SPECIAL Guitar

KDV3_BLUE_Painted Guitars by KrissyDiggs

The only one of its kind in the world: a collaborative paint guitar

A painted guitar by up-and-coming American graphic designer Krissy Diggs, who has worked on Super Bowl commercials and other projects. This is a one-of-a-kind special guitar created for CGK’s first event on July 21, 2024.

The specs are the same as the V3, but it has a blue body and pink head, and the hand-drawn illustrations. Everything is innovative, produced by Krissy.

After being painted, it was given to model and singer-songwriter Hoshino Kaori. For about a month, she used the guitar every day on her SNS to write lyrics and compose songs. On the day of the event, it was used by Hoshino Kaori and ONI (Afrirampo) during their live performances. The scratches made by each artist as they played the guitar are still there.

The trendy trend color!
collaboration ST guitar was born! Limited release at Shimamura Music on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
The image model is the artist Momo Yuhi!

This is the first ST type from CGK. The distinctive design features checkered stitching and a V-shaped pick guard, and mounted on it is the Rise 54 + handmade pickup from Rise Guitar Pickups. This is also a modern arrangement based on a retro sound

Rise luthier Toshio Tamura and CGK luthier Takeshi Katada both happened to become independent in the same year, 2021, and they also have the commonality of having worked in completely different professions before that. This collaboration is a supreme guitar that brings a new wind to Japanese-made guitars, and it is a product of the shared desire of both luthiers to focus on raising the level of Japan’s secondary industry

It is based on the 54-year model, and the vintage sound has been arranged in a modern style, with a sound that is both glittering and maturely sexy . In line with modern needs, only the bridge pickup is high-gain. In addition, the TONE knob is a push-type, and while the normal ST has five types of select, this time it is possible to select seven types of pickups (rainbow tone), and it is possible to create a sound with a little technique, such as being able to select a mix of front and rear that cannot be produced with a normal Strat type.

The attention to color is also evident. The guitar has been finished in a delicate pale color that incorporates the latest fashion trends. The model used for the image is Yuhi Momo.

It is available for purchase from the Shimamura Music Online Shop nationwide.

CGK_ST1_ JWU23

It all started with a pair of chopsticks. CGK luthier Katada was thinking about how he could make effective use of the leftover wood from his guitar-making work, and as he had previously worked in a ramen restaurant, he came up with the idea of making chopsticks that would make it easier to hold ramen. Through an acquaintance, he contacted Hyozemon, a lacquer chopstick and lacquer craft manufacturer in Fukui Prefecture, and Mr. Uraya of Hyozemon happily accepted the request and completed a set of chopsticks. During the course of this correspondence, it was discovered that Mr. Uratani was a guitar enthusiast, and the two hit it off. This time, Mr. Uratani offered to make an electric guitar using “urushi lacquerware”, and this collaboration was realized.

Urushi is a traditional craft unique to Japan that has been around since the Jomon period, some 10,000 years ago. It is made from the sap that comes out when the trunk of a deciduous tree, which is only grown in Japan and other parts of Asia, is scratched, and is used as a coating and adhesive. It is not only beautiful because of the unique sheen that only urushi can produce, but it is also practical because it is resistant to heat, moisture, bacteria and decay, and has been used for a long time. Hyozaemon, a company that has been making chopsticks using the lacquerware technique for 52 years, uses 100% natural materials and does not use any synthetic chemical paints. The company is thoroughly committed to the materials and safety of its products, with the policy that “chopsticks are food”.

CGK was in charge of the design, woodworking and attaching the parts, while Hyozemon-sama was in charge of the overall painting. The characteristic of this lacquerware is that it is finished using the suri-urushi (wiped lacquer) technique, in which the lacquer is rubbed in rather than being applied thickly, which solves the problem of the lacquer being too thick. In addition, the wood grain is brought out in this technique, resulting in a natural finish, and the lacquer becomes more transparent over time. We hope you will enjoy this change as well. Unlike lacquering, it is also possible to re-finish the product in a shorter period of time than with lacquering.

Furthermore, the head is finished using the traditional Wakasa lacquering technique, resulting in a beautiful finish.

A semi-acoustic guitar with a mahogany neck, medium-scale rosewood fingerboard. The body combines mahogany and solid maple in a unique center block construction, giving it a perfect balance of sweetness and sharpness. The body top, sides, back and head are made of curly maple to bring out the wood grain. The guitar is equipped with two TV Jones T-Armond pickups, which were modeled on the pickups used in the 50s and 60s and revived for modern use, and the paint and specifications have been carefully chosen.

The purchaser will also receive a set of chopsticks in the same color as the guitar, made from the leftover wood from the production of the guitar.

WOLVEs GROOVY Special COLLAB Guitar
~Music Land KEY Limited Release~

A special collaboration guitar with WOLVEs GROOVY and Mashinomi has been completed. Mashinomi himself made a special order for everything from the design to the specifications, and the result is a supreme piece of work. The WOLVEs GROOVY logo is on the head. The white body is decorated with gold checkered stitching, a feature of CGK, and the paint is carefully applied by hand using nitrocellulose lacquer, which is the most time-consuming method. All the parts are gold. The body is made of mahogany, despite being a teletype, and it is equipped with two TV-Jones TV Classic (humbuckers) that have a reputation for being authentic sounds that revive the sounds of the 50s and 60s for the modern era. It is mounted with a Bigsby tremolo arm, and the tuning pegs are the Magnum Lock type, which are resistant to tuning errors even when the arm is used a lot. The strap pins are a size larger to prevent them from falling off even during intense performances, and the attention to detail in the specifications is second to none.

<Attention>

Please note that the specifications may change without notice in order to make a better product.

The (lacquer) coating of the CGK is very delicate. It may react with heat, rubber-based materials, or acetone (such as nail polish) and melt, discolor, or peel off. When leaning against a guitar stand, we recommend using a cloth or a special cover for the rubber part.
